Open anything. Instantly.
Anyleaf is a native text editor for Macs with Apple silicon. Logs, JSON, CSV, SQL, Markdown and every other kind of text file open at once, so you can fix what you need and move on.
Files
Pick a file to open it.
Quit whenever you like. Nothing gets lost.
Anyleaf keeps everything you were working on — saved or not — and puts it back exactly where it was the next time you open it. No dialog asking what to do with unsaved changes.
It’s how a scratchpad should work: paste, jot, close the lid, come back tomorrow.
- You quitThree files open, one never saved.
- Anyleaf keeps it allText, cursor position and bookmarks, in a private folder on your Mac.
- You open it againEverything is back where you left it.
See it in action.
Three things you’ll use every day. Try them here.
Two versions side by side, lines aligned, and the exact words that changed highlighted.
Markdown, HTML, CSV, JSON and more, rendered next to the text as you type.
Trip to the coast

Long lines fit the window with one click. Only the view changes — your file stays exactly as it is.
Everything you reach for, already built in.
No plugins to hunt for. The tools you use on text files every day are part of the app.
- Find across folders
- Search and replace in a whole folder with regular expressions and file filters. Mark every match, count them, jump through the results.
- Compare two files
- Side by side and line by line, with the changes inside each line highlighted. Or compare a file with its last saved version.
- See it rendered
- Markdown, HTML, SVG, XML, JSON and CSV appear formatted next to the text while you edit.
- Fix it in one step
- Format or compact JSON and XML, decode Base64 and URLs, hash with SHA-256, sort lines ten ways, remove duplicates, change case.
- Any encoding
- UTF-8, UTF-16, Windows-1252 and twelve more. Anyleaf detects which one a file uses and converts between them, with CRLF or LF line endings.
- Edit faster
- Multiple cursors, column editing, macros you can save, a command palette and keyboard shortcuts you can change.
Made for the Mac you have.
- Built for Apple silicon. Written in Swift with the Mac’s own text system — not a web page dressed up as an app.
- Big files open at once. Anyleaf highlights only what’s on screen. Files over 50 MB open without highlighting, so they stay quick.
- Looks like it belongs. Dark mode across the whole app, five themes with readable contrast, and the menus and shortcuts you expect on a Mac.
Speaks your language.
Menus, settings and messages in eight languages. Pick one in Settings, or let Anyleaf follow your Mac.
Your files stay on your Mac.
Anyleaf never connects to the internet. No account, no analytics, no tracking. Previews don’t run scripts or load anything from the web, and links in your files open only when you ⌘-click them and confirm.

Questions
Is it free?
The beta is free. When Anyleaf 1.0 ships it will be a one-time purchase — never a subscription. People on the list hear about it first.
Does it work on Intel Macs?
No. Anyleaf is built only for Apple silicon, which is part of why it’s fast.
Is it an IDE?
No. It’s for opening, reading and fixing text files quickly. For big software projects you’ll still want your IDE — Anyleaf is what you keep open next to it.
I’m moving from Windows. Will it feel familiar?
Tabs, find in files, macros, column editing, bookmarks, encodings and file comparison are all there, in an app that behaves like a Mac app.
Does it send my files anywhere?
No. Anyleaf doesn’t use the network at all.
Who makes it?
Santi Miquel, an independent developer in Valencia, Spain. Write to hello@anyleaf.app — it reaches him directly.
